Rental Assistance & Utility Assistance
MHC has collaborated with Community Action in Topeka, KS, to provide Emergency Rent or Utility Assistance-one-time payments to help prevent eviction and homelessness for McPherson County residents.

Brush Up MAC
The Brush Up Mac Program (BUM) assists eligible families with yard work and minor home repairs. This program is a yearly event, usually held in April.

Homeless Prevention
MHC offers assistance with security deposits, rent, and utilities for families enrolled in the Homeless Prevention programs. The family must have received an eviction notice.

Tenant-Based Rental Assistance
Tenant-Based Rental Assistance is a program designed to help income-eligible households with rent, security deposits, and utility deposits. MHC may pay the difference between a rent standard for the unit size and 30% of the family's monthly-adjusted income.

Expungements
MHC collaborates with KS Legal Aide to offer legal assistance with expungements to remove barriers to housing stability. Applications can be picked up at the MHC office.

Oak Harbor Cottages Emergency Shelter
This unique community is for those who find themselves homeless and need a place to stay while getting back on their feet. Each tiny home allows the family to live independently for 90 days while they work with a case manager to make an individualized plan.

Home Repair Program
This program helps low-income homeowners with a $10,000 grant (62 years+) or a loan (1% interest) of up to $40,000 (no age requirements) to make home repairs. As long as grant funds are available, homeowners may qualify for both.

Masters in Social Work from Western New Mexico University. She has a passion for meeting people’s needs and helping them progress in their well-being.
Richard has been on the MHC board since 2018, first as the Vice President, and now president. As a current member of the financial staff for the City of McPherson, he has served as the liaison between McPherson Housing Coalition and the Kansas Housing Corporation in Topeka. In this vital role he assists with processing that Emergency Solutions Grant application from HUD every year and the monthly requests for reimbursement from the state.
Stanford [Cheyenne] Kroeker is honored to serve the McPherson community as it’s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor through the state of Kansas’ Dept. for Children and Families. He is also a professor for Central Christian College of KS in their online undergraduate programs. Cheyenne is a father of 4 beautiful girls and enjoys spending time doing anything outdoors with his family or exploring the nooks and crannies of the Midwest with his wife, Alison.
Barb has served as the City Clerk for the City of Inman, Kansas since 2012. She represents that community on our board. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in social work from Washburn University, Barbara worked for the Salvation Army, SRS (family service) and as a social worker and court services officer in Hutchinson.
