McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) helps low-income families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We are able to do this by receiving federal grants and generous donations from our donors.
Families living in overcrowded conditions with family and friends, in a hotel, or have a court-ordered eviction, may qualify for our program.
MHC helps families find a decent, affordable place to live and with the financial costs of moving into a new place, assisting with the deposit, first month’s rent, and set up of utilities.
We do not get a family into a home and then walk away. We go to the next step and address the concerns that put the family into this situation.
We continue to work with families for a minimum of six months. During that time, we provide access to other helpful resources and address employment and transportation concerns.
Once the family has moved in, they start paying a small amount towards rent and utilities. Each month they take on more and more of the financial responsibilities and MHC pays a little less, until the family is 100% responsible for all costs.
